Our Story
Raul and Karen Ruelas felt called to start the Ruelas Family Foundation after working in the behavioral health industry in and around San Antonio. The Ruelases felt it important to give back to the community and serve those most overlooked or in need—the least among us. Raul was especially sensitive to this mission because of his own humble beginnings, which drive the foundation’s compassionate work of help and hope today.

The guiding mission of the charitable Ruelas Family Foundation is to serve the least among us by giving back to those in dire need and creating positive change. This vision is grounded in a steadfast commitment to service, providing educational scholarships, and expanding support for causes that benefit vulnerable communities and individuals in need. The Ruelas Family Foundation is driven by values of love and faith, and a resolution to making the world a better place, one life at a time.
Who We Help
Our goal is to help the least among us, wherever they may be, especially in marginalized and underserved communities. We understand that need can take many forms, but most often centers on families, those living with mental health issues, and first-generation students pursuing higher education. However, our mission encompasses many definitions of need, and our goal is to bring positive hope and change.
